Karsim (System, Planet): Settled early in the long night. Colonist appeared to belong to a religious sect that rejected technology. Planet immediately lost its industrial base and settled into a prolonged tech level 2 state marked by intensive religious warfare. By the time recontacted in by imperial scout survey, world was broken up into approximately 70 states with fairly stable political structures, and a mostly bureaucratic social religious framework. Imperial scouts established a tithe grade 0 for the world, but recognized that long term prospects were good for conversion into a high value core system for the emperor. Currently Karsim is at TL4, roughly equivalent to a base Tera standard of 1800s. Karsim was not officially part of the Imperium until recently, but has been annexed and should be considered Imperial territory. Some charts may show still show Karsim as unaligned. The world has a fairly basic star port to support a trade in hand craft goods. Noteworthy is Karsim’s trade in steam locomotives for use in historical restorations in several nearby systems, and for use by several colony worlds seeking to establish a basic and robust rail transportation system.
